The Bloody Shamrock Team was in attendance to witness the first Cage Warriors Academy MMA show in Ireland. With 13 bouts on the night, featuring some of Ireland’s finest amateur talent. We also had 2 Cage Warrior Academy Grand Prix semi finals, set up as Ireland vs England tussles.

In the first grand prix bout of the evening Ciaran Mullholland representing Ireland, who was taking on his English opponent Francis Breen fighting out of Next Generation Liverpool. Despite having Cage Warriors poster boy Paddy ‘The Baddy” Pimblet in his corner. Breen ran into an unstoppable force in Mullholland.

The Irish representative rushed across the cage and wrestled Breen to ground. Mullholland then  promptly finished the fight. Forcing the tap from his foe just 36 seconds into the first round. The stoppage coming via rear naked choke. Mullholland’s emphatic victory sent all those in attendance into rapturous applause, in appreciation of his quick work.

In the second Cage Warriors Academy Grand Prix bout in the Bantamweight division, Ireland’s representative Caolan Loughran took on another Next Generation Liverpool fighter in Nathan Fletcher. Loughran came out looking the stronger fighter in the first round. But the last 2 rounds were highly competitive. With both men exchanging dominant positions. Fletcher at one point, looked to have secured an arm-bar. But Loughran scrambled gallantly. In the end the judges decided that Fletcher the the winner and would be advancing in the Cage Warriors Academy Grand Prix.

The main event saw Ciaran Breslin (ZKJ) face Glenn McVeigh (Fight Academy Ireland) in what was to be for the Cage Warriors Academy Ireland’s Bantamweight title.  But with McVeigh missing weight, the title was only available for Breslin to win. The bout itself was a back and forth battle from the offset. In the end it came down to the superior wrestling ability of McVeigh, who edged the tight decision win. Meaning no title belt was handed out on the night.

In the under card bouts team Ryano’s Paddy Wilkinson, defeated SBG D24 representative Nate Enright. The stoppage coming via technical knock out in the second round. Enright had been rocked by a punch in the first round. But he battled back into the contest. Actually looking brighter in opening moments of the second until he was caught again. Wilkinson this time able to secure the stoppage.

Young Irish based Polish prospect Emil Piatek, continued to build his impressive amateur MMA record. With a dominant victory over Aaron Devlin from Team Torres. Finishing with a victory via technical knock out in the 3rd round.

Dan Holohan SBG D24, fresh off his debut victory at Cage Legacy 9 a few weeks ago, took on Ervin Linmeiers  of Team Sanda Dundalk. The bout opened very competitively, with both fighters finding success. Holohan had taken the back of a semi grounded Linmeiers, and begun launching heavy knee strikes forcing Ervin back to his feet. Seconds later Linmeiers landed the fight ending right hand to end this highly competitive bout.
